The Courier-JournalAfter watching "World Trade Center" yesterday, Ann Davis, 59, emerged from Showcase Stonybrook 20 in tears.

She was glad the Oliver Stone movie reflected the strength of those directly affected by the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. "John Q. Public saw a very different side of New York" then, she said.

She thought the movie was well done and tastefully timed.
Dr. William Palmer, an English professor at Purdue University who specializes in film, also believes five years was a long enough decompression period between the attacks and recent films inspired by them, including "United 93."

"This is a good time for films about the 9/11 tragedy," he said. "When something as traumatic as this happens, Hollywood keeps their hands off it for a decent amount of time. They've really waited here."

Dexter Parker, 18, a student at Eastern High School who also saw "World Trade Center" yesterday, said Stone did an excellent job, but he actually thought Hollywood waited too long.

"This movie should have come out on Sept. 11, 2002."
