The dean of Purdue University’s College of Technology visited Anderson on Tuesday to discuss educational partnerships and how Purdue could partner with the city to create future opportunities.

Dennis Depew gave his afternoon presentation to the Rotary Club at Anderson Country Club.

He emphasized the importance of the successful partnership Purdue University has with Anderson University dating back to 1985, along with the bright future plans that include the opening of the College of Technology’s new home.

The new 53,000-square-foot, $7 million facility in the Flagship Education Center will be located at the Flagship Enterprise Center and utilized by both Purdue’s College of Technology and Anderson University.

The building is scheduled to be completed June 30, with classes set to begin meeting later this fall.

“Purdue’s College of Technology, through its partnership with Anderson University, has been involved in this community for a little over 20 years,” Depew said. “We are really proud that this partnership will continue at the Flagship Education Center.”

Depew stressed the importance of all local residents being aware that Purdue has a presence in Anderson and that opportunities are available to students in the areas of manufacturing and electronic technologies.
