Purdue TV magazine's March topics set

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- "Purdue: A Closer Look," the weekly television magazine that takes a closer look at people, programs, research and services at the university, continues its series of spring-semester programs in March with telecasts in Greater Lafayette and around the state.

Each half-hour program includes a campus news update, feature segments and a studio interview.

The program is seen weekdays in Greater Lafayette and on the West Lafayette campus on The Purdue Channel (Cox Communications Channel 5; University Residences Television Antenna System Channel 15; and Purdue Cable Network Channel 4). Telecast times are noon Monday and Friday and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The March schedule in Greater Lafayette:

March 3-7 -- Work on nuclear reactor safety; the skinny on fats, low-fat foods and fat substitutes; the "All-American" Marching Band celebrates the diamond anniversary of its giant drum.

March 10-14 -- No Greater Lafayette telecasts during Purdue's spring break.

March 17-21 -- A look at Purdue's technology needs and the impact on an increasingly high-tech Indiana; an introduction to the new Undergraduate Studies Program; the fun and learning of the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest.

March 24-28 -- A new Purdue initiative helps young dads learn to be better parents; studio guest to be announced; the Womb Room Project.

"Purdue: A Closer Look" is jointly produced by the Center for Instructional Services and the Office of University Relations. Program hosts are Beth Forbes, news coordinator at Purdue News Service, and Greg Zawisza, director of special projects at University Relations.

The program also is seen on the following cable outlets around the state:

Indianapolis, Educational Television Co-op Channels 20 and 39 (Comcast) and Channel 19 (American Cable); 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.
Fort Wayne, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne's College Cable Access Channel 6; 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Muncie, Ball State Cable Service WBSU Channel 5; 9 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.
South Bend/Mishawaka, TCI of Michiana Cable Channel 3; 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Also, central Indiana broadcasts of programs from earlier in the series are now under way weekly on WFYI-TV 20, the Indianapolis Public Broadcasting Service affiliate, at 11:30 a.m. Sundays.
