07/00-- Purdue food science professor Bruce Hamaker discovered why sorghum takes longer to digest than other cereal grains. His research could lead to sorghum crops with greater dietary benefits. Hamaker's work was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and earned him the 2000 Purdue University Agricultural Research Award.
