08/03-- Judy Loven, a U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service wildlife biologist, said bats can invade older buildings, and the best way to evict them is by sealing up the building's holes in the fall. Bat droppings can become a medium for hystoplasma spores, which can cause respiratory infections and, in some cases, blindness. Bats also can transmit rabies to humans.
