William R. Woodson, professor of horticulture at Purdue University, shows off a carnation bloom that will last several times longer than flowers commercially available. Woodson is the first to explain how plants intentionally cause their flowers to wilt. Woodson hopes to use the reserch to make longer-lasting flowers for consumers.
