04/98-- Purdue agronomist Brad Joern catches a sample of water from a farm drainage tile. Joern found that phosphorus can move into drain-tile water from fields that have a long history of phosphorus loading. A decade ago, scientists believed that phosphorus in fields didn't move, unless it eroded away with soil.
