Major Discovery Park gift to be announced Friday

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue officials on Friday (Jan. 21) will announce a multimillion dollar gift for Discovery Park, the university's interdisciplinary research, enterprise and education complex. The announcement will take place at 3:30 p.m. in the Birck Nanotechnology Center, currently under construction in Discovery Park.

Journalists wishing to cover the event must meet at the Dick and Sandy Dauch Alumni Center (at the corner of Grant and Wood streets on the south side of campus) at 3:15 p.m. to be bused to the Birck Nanotechnology Center. Journalists planning on covering the event should contact Mike Lillich, Purdue News Service, (765) 494-2077, mlillich@purdue.edu.

The 40-acre Discovery Park complex, located on State Street on the west side of campus, now includes five buildings – one, the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship, completed; and two more, the Birck Nanotechnology Center and Bindley Bioscience Center, which are under construction and scheduled to be completed this summer. Ground was broken during Homecoming Week in October on the e-Enterprise Center and the Discovery Learning Center. Also under construction in Discovery Park is the biomedical engineering building.

A news release, publication-quality photos and broadcast-quality video will be available in advance of the event but will be embargoed for 12:01 a.m. Friday (Jan. 21). Journalists will have access to the Birck Nanotechnology Center after the announcement.
