Fifth annual workshop features conference gems

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Organizations interested in scheduling a conference or meeting at Purdue University can attend a workshop sponsored by the Office of Continuing Education and Conferences and Housing and Food Services.

The fifth annual Successful Conference Workshop will begin at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 11 in Stewart Center, Room 218. Information sessions and an exhibition will be offered. To register online go to the Office for Continuing Education and Conference web page.

The conference, Find Hidden Treasures at Purdue, will feature a treasure hunt theme. Susan Xioufaridou (pronounced Shoo-far-ee'-doo), sales coordinator for Purdue's Conference Division, says campus organizations involved in making conferences and meetings successful will display their products in the exhibit room and be present to explain their services.

"This workshop is an opportunity to expose the community's event planners to all of the valuable resources available at Purdue," Xioufaridou says. "The exhibits will provide ideas on how to incorporate such Purdue amenities as brochure development, recreational activities, lodging, food and beverage, media, and much more into conferences and meetings hosted on campus."

The Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, WBAA Radio, Purdue Memorial Union Catering and the on-campus Union Club Hotel are a few of exhibitors that will be available at the session.

Purdue's Conference Division assists in the coordination and execution of conferences and meetings both on and off the West Lafayette campus. Purdue annually administers more than 900 conferences and meetings with more than 90,000 people in attendance.

For more information about planning a conference or meeting on the Purdue campus, visit the Conference Division Web site or call (765) 496-6205.
