February 15, 2005 Southwest Indiana Crop Clinic set for March 10 in JasperWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The fourth Annual Southwest Indiana Crop Seminar, organized by the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service, will be March 10 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall in Jasper. The clinic will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and private pesticide applicator credit is available for the morning session of the program. After morning signup and refreshments, Chris Hurt, a Purdue Extension economist, will discuss the economic outlook for 2005 "Soybean rust and Atrazine are two other issues that will be included in the morning session," said Jim Peter, a Purdue Extension specialist and program facilitator. "They are both very timely topics that farmers need to be informed about." The program will break for lunch at 12:15 p.m., when attendees may dine at local restaurants. Participants must choose from one of two concurrent afternoon sessions, which resume at 1:30 p.m. The feed grain program will include presentations on "Corn After Corn Considerations" and "Nitrogen Management when Nitrogen Prices are High." The forage program, designed for those with hay pasture and/or cattle, will include presentations on "Nutrient Management for Forages" and "Improving Forages and Finances with Integrated Resource Management." There is no preregistration or fee to attend the program. Purdue Extension, the Southwest Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Department, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Dubois County Farm Bureau Coop and Royster Clark are program sponsors.
