March 29, 2005 Rueff Galleries sets schedule for April exhibitsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The Patti and Rusty Rueff Galleries at Purdue University will feature a variety of exhibits in April, including a series of pieces created with mud and a chance to observe how artists install art exhibits. The galleries, located in the Yue-Kong Pao Hall for Visual and Performing Arts, 552 W. Wood St., are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Exhibits are free and open to the public. Artwork created by seniors in the fine arts program in the Division of Art and Design will be displayed April 25-29 in the East and West galleries. The show is entitled Tapping Softly on a Weather Ceiling. A reception will take place from 4:30-6:30 p.m. April 29. West Gallery exhibits include: April 4-8. On (un)Holy Ground. Jillian Longheier, a fine arts graduate student, incorporates mud in all her pieces to reflect cultural violence. A reception will take place from 5-7 p.m. April 4. April 11-15. Nostalgia Memory Virus Vessel. Monika Meler, a fine arts graduate student, presents figurative abstractions representing her childhood in Poland, and her present and future. A reception will take place from 5-7 p.m. April 14. April 18-22. (de)constructed spaces. Lynn Lee, a graduate student, presents a series of photographs. A reception will take place from 5-7 p.m. April 18. East Gallery exhibits include: April 4-7. Industrial Design Senior Show. Work from seniors in the industrial design program in the Division of Art and Design. April 11-15. Open viewing of the installation process for Apperception by Barbara Smith, a graduate student. The public is invited to observe how a show is installed. April 18-22. Apperception. This show is considered an installation, meaning the gallery will be transformed into another space to display Smith's works. Smith's work is based on photography and video art. A reception will take place from 5-7 p.m. April 18.
