Projectors stolen from Purdue classrooms

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Three video projectors, valued at a total of approximately $36,000, were reported stolen from classrooms in Purdue University's Recitation Building.

An Information Technology at Purdue employee was conducting a check of computers in the building's classrooms at about 2:45 a.m. Friday (April 29) and noticed a Sharp projector was missing from Room 307. When Purdue police arrived, they discovered that similar projectors also had been stolen from rooms 308 and 309, said Lt. Fred Davis.

According to a police report, the ceiling-mounted projectors were secured with chains and a security plate. The thief unplugged the projectors' power cables, cut the chains and pried off the security plates. Police believe the thefts took place between 4 p.m. Thursday (April 28) and 2:30 a.m. Friday (April 29).

Anyone with information regarding the thefts should contact the Purdue Police Department at (765) 494-8221.
