July 1, 2005 Grazing is not just for animals anymoreWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Farmers and others will learn proper pasture techniques on July 15-16 during a grazing workshop at the Southern Indiana Purdue Ag Center. "Grazing 102, Vol. III," sponsored by Purdue University and the Cooperative Extension Service, is dedicated to helping producers understand important grazing concepts. Day one of the two-day workshop will begin at 9:15 a.m. July 15 with registration and end at 5:15 p.m. Steve Hawkins, assistant director of Purdue agriculture centers, and Victor Shelton, U.S. Department of Agriculture grazing specialist, are among the speakers The second day of the workshop will start at 7:30 a.m. and end at 4:45 p.m. Ed Heckman, retired Purdue Extension specialist, and Jason Tower, superintendent of the Southern Indiana Purdue Ag Center, are featured speakers. During the workshop, presenters will discuss topics addressing water conservation, pasture fertility, nutrient cycling and feed management. Participants can download a registration form. Registration is $65 for attendees and $30 for additional person from the same farm. The primary registrant from each farm or group will receive reference materials, speaker notes and management tools. Space is limited for the program and preregistration is required. Registration forms and checks must be returned by July 5 to Purdue Extension in Dubois County, 1482 Executive Blvd., Jasper, IN 47546-9300. Checks should be made payable to Purdue Extension in Dubois County.
