Purdue Convocations adds Beatles tribute show to fall schedule

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Convocations will present the Beatles tribute show, "BackBeat … A Tribute," at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, in the Stewart Center's Loeb Playhouse.

"BackBeat … A Tribute" presents music spanning the Beatles' career. Every detail in the first act, including the equipment, the band’s attire and the music, replicates a classic Beatles concert from 1964 and 1965. After intermission, the band takes the stage as Sargent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and then later dresses to recreate the 1969 "Abbey Road" album cover and completes the show with classics from the 1968-69 era.

ABC Network’s Jay Fox said, "BackBeat is one of only a few groups in the world that can reunite the enthusiasm of the Beatles. Every detail of a Beatles performance is captured by BackBeat!"

"We are thrilled to be adding BackBeat to our schedule," says Katie Hutton, Purdue Convocations' director of marketing. "The show is the Friday of Purdue’s first home football weekend. It is the perfect way to kick off the football season!"

Tickets for "BackBeat … A Tribute" are $18. Friends of Convocations may order advance tickets by calling (765) 494-9712 or faxing the order form available at www.convocations.org. Advance tickets must be ordered by Tuesday, July 19.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Thursday, July 21 at campus box offices by calling (765) 494-3933 and at all Ticketmaster outlets. Group discounts are available for groups of 20 or more by calling (765) 494-9712.
