July 11, 2005 Purdue brings peer institutions together for future graduate studentsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. In a cooperative effort to provide students with information about graduate education, more than 17 institutions of higher education will be represented at the Big 10+ Graduate School Exposition Sept. 26 in Purdue Memorial Union's South Ballroom. Purdue representatives will conduct workshops about graduate study in the science, technology, engineering, mathematics and agriculture disciplines. Students interested in pursuing graduate education will have a chance to talk to faculty and students from each of the institutions. Student registration is $15 prior to the event or $20 at the door, and travel scholarships are available through the graduate school. The following workshops will be presented: funding graduate study; how to apply to graduate school; masters versus doctoral degree; choosing a graduate program: asking the right questions; graduate student life; and a discussion with current graduate students. With Purdue, thus far, attending institutions include: Arizona State University, Cornell University, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, University of Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology, Indiana University, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), Michigan State University, Midwest Crossroads AGEP, University of Iowa, University of Michigan, University of Minnesota, The National Gem Consortium, Ohio State University, University of Notre Dame, University of Wisconsin and University of Texas.
