Deadline approaches for Fall Welcome registration

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Transfer students who want an advance look at Purdue University will have to register soon for the annual Fall Welcome on Aug. 20 in Stewart Center. The registration deadline for the event is Aug. 5.

"We want transfer students to be able to make social and academic connections before classes start," said Emily Bauer, assistant director of orientation and new student programs. "Fall Welcome gives transfer students a chance to meet each other and learn their way around the Purdue campus."

Jessica Hoffman, student body president, who previously transferred to Purdue, will welcome the group to campus. Other students also will be on hand to help the participants make a smooth transition to college life at Purdue.

Organizers expect about 150 transfer students from other colleges and universities, as well as Purdue's regional campuses, to attend. Fall Welcome will be held from 1-4 p.m. Classes begin Aug. 22.

The three-hour event also will give transfer students an opportunity to set up computer accounts, get their student ID cards and attend a resource fair about student services.

There is no cost to attend Fall Welcome.
