November 1, 2005 Purdue-themed holiday portraits available at two locationsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Holiday portraits featuring Purdue University backgrounds will be available for all community members this year at two locations on campus.
A professional photographer will be on hand for holiday pictures 6-8 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Dick and Sandy Dauch Alumni Center at 403 W. Wood St. This is the first time portraits will be offered at Dauch, said April Headdy, facility manager at the alumni center. "This is a great opportunity to showcase to students, faculty and staff, alumni and the community the wonderful facility we have here at Dauch," she said. Photos will be taken in front of the fireplace in the Rudolph Living Room, near the bookshelves in the Morse Library and in front of the Boilermaker Special exhibit in the Spurgeon Hall of Spirit. There is no sitting fee. Holiday photo cards and several picture packages will be available for purchase. Members of the Purdue Alumni Association and the Purdue Alumni Student Experience will receive a 10 percent discount with their membership card. To schedule a sitting, call (765) 494-2727, go on line or e-mail Headdy at aheaddy@purdue.edu. The Visitor Information Center at 504 Northwestern Ave. will continue its longtime tradition of offering holiday photos Nov. 7 to Dec. 17. A black backdrop accented with a gold decorated tree, a miniature Boilermaker Special and silver snowflakes will be available at the conference room. There is no cost, but those interested must bring their own camera and take their own pictures. A tripod will be available. Light-colored clothing is recommended since the backdrop will be black. An appointment is required for the half-hour session. Those interested can call (765) 494-4636. Appointment times are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The studio will be closed Sundays and Nov. 24-27 for Thanksgiving break. The busiest days are Fridays and Saturdays, so it is recommended that those interested in those days schedule a time as soon as possible. At both locations, accompanied family pets are welcome.
