November 4, 2005 PMO offers school matinee of Christmas showWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Seats are still available for third- through 12th-grade classes at a Dec. 9 school matinee of the Purdue Christmas Show, "When Christmas Comes to Town." "The Christmas Show is a proud Purdue tradition, now in its 72nd year," said Purdue Musical Organizations director Brian Breed. "Our students always enjoy performing for this age group and I'm happy to add this special matinee for the first time this year. "These audiences are potential future members of our ensembles, so we hope our show will not only entertain but inspire them to come to Purdue and join our casts and crew." The show will be held in Elliott Hall of Music and runs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The performance is tailored from the regular two-hour extravaganza scheduled the same weekend. Featured performers include PMO ensembles such as the Purdue Varsity Glee Club, the Purduettes, the Purdue Bells and rhythm and blues group Heart and Soul. Jane Massey, music director at Klondike Middle School, has arranged to bring the entire school to the event. "Some kids may never have an opportunity to see a production of this magnitude," Massey said. "We're going to have lunch at one of the campus residence halls, so it will give our students exposure to a college atmosphere and let them enjoy a phenomenal show at the same time." Tickets are $5 per student. Call (765) 494-3941 for more information or to register classes.
