Purdue president to provide update on research at PurdueWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue University President Martin C. Jischke on Wednesday (Feb. 1) will provide an update on research initiatives at Purdue and changes in research funding from federal, state and corporate sources.From 2-3 p.m., during WBAA Radio's live call-in show "AM 920 Magazine," Jischke will field questions from host David Bunte and the listening audience. "Purdue is placing a huge emphasis on cutting-edge technologies like nanotechnology," said station manager Dan Skinner. "The new facilities at Discovery Park are already fueling breakthroughs in a variety of emerging technologies." The number of research grants at Discovery Park has doubled in just one year. During the program, Jischke will focus on how Purdue-based research is impacting Indiana's economy and how investment in research facilities is paving the way to create a potential Midwestern "Silicon Valley" in nanotechnology. Jischke discusses different topics on every show, which usually airs the first Wednesday of each month. Skinner said past interview topics with the president included Purdue's strategic plan and the university's economic impact on the state. Past interviews are archived on the station's Web site.
