Class of 1937 scholarships available to Purdue students

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Current Purdue University undergraduate students are invited to apply for Class of 1937 scholarships for the 2006-07 school year.

The number of scholarships will be determined by the interest earned on the Class of 1937 endowment during the past year. An average of 15 scholarships have been awarded each year since 1987-88, with individual scholarship amounts ranging from $500 to $4,000. Each scholarship amount will be split between the fall and spring semesters.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be enrolled at the West Lafayette campus, be registered for 12 or more credit hours, be classified as a sophomore, junior or senior during the 2006-07 school year, have a cumulative 2.0 grade point average, be in good academic and social standing within the university, show evidence of leadership ability or potential and show financial need. Applicants do not need to be eligible for financial assistance through Purdue's Division of Financial Aid.

Applications are now available at the Office of the Dean of Students, Schleman Hall, Room 207; Purdue Student Government office, Stewart Center, Room G-6; Black Cultural Center, 1100 Third St.; and online.

Applications must be submitted by Feb. 15 to the Office of the Dean of Students, Schleman Hall, Room 207. Award recipients will be notified by mail by April 14.
