Purdue Alumni Association offering free financial seminarWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. St. Louis residents can get advice about how to achieve both short- and long-term goals with their money during a free financial seminar this month at courtesy of Purdue University.The Purdue Alumni Association is offering sessions, lead by advisers from Edward Jones, covering a wide range of investment topics 6-8:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at Edward Jones, 12555 Manchester Road, St. Louis. Participants do not need to be Purdue alumni or members of the alumni association to attend. "Through our corporate partnership with Edward Jones, we are able to offer free professional financial advice that many people might not otherwise have the opportunity to benefit from," said Todd Coleman, executive director of the Purdue Alumni Association. "This seminar is a wonderful example of the way PAA can make a difference not just to those who have attended Purdue, but also to all members of the community." The topics to be discussed are: College planning strategies How to compare saving options, develop an effective investment strategy and explore financial aid. Investing basics How to examine your current financial situation, reduce taxes and identify and reduce investment risk. Retirement planning How to determine your financial goals and develop a strategy to help ensure a comfortable retirement. Those interested in attending must register by Feb. 21.
