2006 winter dairy meeting to take place in northern IndianaWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The 2006 Winter Dairy Meeting will take place Feb. 27 in the Elkhart County Community Center's Martin Room at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds.The meeting, Animal Health: Managing Diseases vs. Using Band-Aids, is being presented by the Michigan State University Extension Dairy Team and Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service of Elkhart County. Meeting topics will include: Treatment decisions to increase the quality and quantity of milk. How vaccines work so dairy producers can make more informed decisions on vaccine programs. Farm security, food safety, biosecurity and emergency issues. Johne's disease awareness and management strategies. An interactive program using local producers and veterinarians to discuss successful control programs will be highlighted. Bruce Lamb, a state veterinarian from the Indiana Board of Animal Health, also will speak about the Indiana Johne's disease program. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with the first session beginning at 9:30 a.m. The program includes lunch at noon and will end at 3 p.m. Full-meeting registration is $35 and $20 for each additional participant from the same farm. Registration for afternoon-only participants is $20 and $10 for each additional participant. Those attending only the afternoon sessions do not receive lunch.
