Purdue women's leadership conference set for March 25

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The seventh annual Women in Leadership Conference, sponsored by the Office of the Dean of Students, will take place this month on the Purdue University campus.

All Purdue students will have a chance to attend the conference from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 25 in Stewart Center. The event will offer strategies on how to become a more effective leader and will include discussion sessions, a panel of female leaders and a keynote speaker.

Janet Cooper will be the keynote speaker and will talk about her 25 years of multi-industry experience in Fortune 500 companies and her time educating women in India. She has a bachelor's degree in industrial management from Purdue, an MBA in finance and marketing from Louisiana State University and a law degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston.

The panel is set to include Johari Miller, a pediatrician; Betsy Villwock, special assistant in the office of the lieutenant governor; Linda Rohrman, a community leader; Carol Ecker, a veterinarian; Jane Gervasio, a pharmacist; Vicky Bailey, a partner of Johnstone & Associates and a member of the Dean's Advisory Council; Kauline Davis, assistant to the provost; Martha Chiscon, professor emeritus of biological sciences and retired associate dean of the school of science; and Shereka Wright, a professional basketball player. In addition, Sally Mason, provost and professor of biological sciences, will speak at lunch.

Registration to the conference is $10 and includes lunch and all conference materials. The deadline for registration is 5 p.m. March 20.

Registration forms are available in the Office of the Dean of Students, Schleman Hall, Room 250, or online.
