March 3, 2006 Purdue Agriculture honors nine distinguished alumsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Nine alumni received Distinguished Agricultural Alumni (DAA) awards today (March 3) during a ceremony on the Purdue University campus. "We feel very fortunate to be able to recognize these outstanding men and women," said Randy Woodson, Glenn W. Sample Dean of Agriculture. "The Distinguished Ag Alumni program is designed to identify and recognize alumni who are accomplished in their chosen profession and in their communities. These nine people personify Purdue Agriculture. "They represent the full spectrum of the food, agriculture and natural resource system. They use their expertise to make their companies and their communities better places to work and live." The DAA award honors mid-career Purdue Agriculture graduates who have made significant contributions to their profession or society in general and have a record of outstanding accomplishments. Award winners are nominated and chosen by a selection committee comprised of the college's leadership team. There have been 133 recipients of this award. Honored this year were: Gary C. Bergstrom, Ithaca, N.Y., professor of plant pathology, Cornell University. Steven Bishop, Cincinnati, Ohio, vice president, North American Fabric Care, Procter & Gamble Co. Michael Culy, Indianapolis, global regulatory molecule leader, Dow AgroSciences, Kun-Liang Guan, Ann Arbor, Mich., the Halvor N. Christensen collegiate professor in life sciences, Life Sciences Institute, University of Michigan. Leslie Holland-Bartles, Anchorage, Alaska, deputy regional director of western region and director, Alaska Science Center, U.S. Geological Survey. Mark Kimmel, Modesto, Calif., senior vice president of total quality and research and development, Stanislaus Food Products. Chip Perfect, Lawrenceburg, entrepreneur and president of Perfect North Slopes. Matthew C. Reynolds, Auburn Hills, Mich., director of interior component systems engineering, DaimlerChyrsler Corp. Max T. Rodibaugh, Frankfort, founding partner, Swine Health Services.
