Week set to honor Purdue graduate, professional students

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue Graduate Student Government has set aside next week to honor graduate and professional students on campus.

Running April 3-6, Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week is part of a national celebration sponsored by the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students. The celebration is designed to help the nation recognize the accomplishments and contributions of graduate and professional students to universities and communities.

Scheduled events include:

• Monday, 6-7:30 p.m. Purdue Memorial Union, East Faculty Lounge. Opening reception with Provost Sally Mason.

• Tuesday, 4:30-6 p.m. Materials and Electrical Engineering Building, Room B012. Work in the World — Advice on Non-Academic Careers.

• Tuesday, 6-7:30 p.m. Dauch Alumni Center. Looking Beyond Academia: Non-Academic Careers Workshop.

• Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Beering Hall of Liberal Arts and Education, Room 1255. Networking workshop.

• Wednesday, 3-4 p.m. Electrical Engineering Building, Room 270. Thesis preparation.

• Wednesday, 6-7:30 p.m. Rawls Hall, Room 1057. Exploring Academic Careers Workshop.

• Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Purdue Memorial Union, Room 118. Ivy Tech will be on campus accepting applications for adjunct faculty.

• Thursday, 1-4 p.m. Stewart Center, Room 194. Get to Know the Center for Career Opportunities.

• Thursday, 6-7:30 p.m. Purdue Memorial Union, Room 118. Closing Reception with remarks from John Contreni, dean of the Graduate School. Purdue Graduate Student Government also will award Graduate Student Excellence Awards to students for scholarship and professionalism.
