Outdoor concert at Purdue to feature blues musicWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Blues guitarist Keith Scott will headline an outdoor concert at Purdue University next week.Purdue's Student Union Board is sponsoring its first Blues Night at 8 p.m. Thursday (April 13) on the front lawn of Purdue Memorial Union. The concert is free and open to the public. "While this is the first year we've presented Blues Night, we hope it will become an biannual event that brings in some of the best blues acts in the region," said Ben Smith, Purdue Student Union Board's director of concerts. "Keith Scott, one of Chicago's most vibrant musicians, will headline the concert. "The blues originated in the delta plains of the Mississippi River and its powerful message and impact quickly spread throughout the world. This is an opportunity for everyone to come and enjoy blues in its raw and beautiful form." Scott has toured throughout the United States and Europe during the past 20 years and has performed at the Hard Rock Café, the House of Blues, Metro and the Chicago Blues Fest. He has released five albums and has had songs featured on MTV, "The Real World," "Road Rules" and the Disney Channel. In the event of rain, the concert will take place in Purdue Memorial Union's main lounges.
