Aseptic Processing and Packaging Workshop focusing on future

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The 23rd annual Aseptic Processing and Packaging Workshop will take place May 15-18 at Purdue University.

This year's workshop theme — Focus on the Present — Planning for the Future — will feature aseptic processing topics such as microbiological principles, chemical considerations, packaging, engineering concepts, equipment features and principles of thermal processing. All sessions will be in the Food Science Building and will be led by Purdue Department of Food Science faculty and staff.

"We always update the workshop every year," said Steve Smith, a Purdue food science specialist. "We'll have several new demonstrations for participants this year. It will be a wonderful opportunity for anyone wanting an in-depth knowledge of aseptic food processing and packaging."

Workshop registration is $1,495 and includes a notebook with summaries and references for all lecture subjects, beverage breaks and two dinners. Other meals and lodging are not included in this fee. Enrollment is limited to 40 people and will be on a first-come basis. Registration is available online, or by contacting John Wellman or Lynn Stocksick at (765) 494-0243 or (800) 359-2968.
