Jischke to discuss Purdue's academic rankingsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue University President Martin C. Jischke on Wednesday (May 3) will discuss the importance and accuracy of academic ratings.From 2-3 p.m. during WBAA Radio's live call-in show "AM 920 Magazine," Jischke will field questions from host Dan Skinner and the listening audience. Purdue is recognized with 56 top-10 rankings in various academic programs and 70 top-20 rankings in the nation, including The Times of London, which ranked Purdue 22nd in the nation overall and ninth among U.S. public universities. "The type of respect a university earns is evidenced by its presence in various surveys, studies and polls that take in a wide range of topics," Skinner said. "Purdue is proud of the tradition of excellence that the rankings seem to validate." Jischke will discuss the success of individual schools and colleges and how their strong rankings contribute to Purdue's overall reputation. Jischke also will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of different kinds of ranking systems. To ask questions, local listeners can call (765) 496-1999.
