Agribusiness management program to cover precision sellingWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The Purdue University Center for Food and Agricultural Business will sponsor a program July 27-28 to help agribusiness managers gain a better understanding of precision selling to operators of large farms."The program is geared toward any individual or organization seeking to enhance its position with large producers," said Scott Downey, associate director of the center. Throughout the two-day seminar, participants will explore the factors influencing decisions of large producers, discover tools to evaluate customer growth potential and management, and develop a plan for consistent communication with customers. Participants also will learn best-practice habits and characteristics of high-performing sales professionals. The seminar aims to reach those responsible for servicing and selling to key farm accounts. Attendees will have responsibilities in selling to and servicing large farm accounts, servicing local and regional markets, developing strategies for evaluating customers on profit and growth potential, and managing relationships with persons in key accounts. Participants will learn in an applied environment and walk away from the program with a specific action plan for working with targeted growers, Downey said. This seminar will be held on Purdue's West Lafayette campus. Registration is $1,345 prior to June 27, or $1,495 after that date. Registration fees include program materials, snacks and some meals.
