Purdue's Black Cultural Center presents annual awards
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Several students were recently honored during the Purdue University Black Cultural Center's annual awards banquet for their leadership and service on the center's student staff, participation in the center's performing ensembles and outstanding academic achievement.Established at Purdue in 1969, the Black Cultural Center is nationally recognized and acknowledged by the Association of Black Culture Centers as one of the best centers of its kind. Center director Renee Thomas said the facility helps black students gain a greater understanding of their heritage and supports and enhances cultural diversity on campus and in the community.
