Summer Concert Series to include variety of musical acts, cuisinesWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue Memorial Union's annual Summer Concert Series begins this week and features a wide-ranging mixture of musical styles and dinner themes.The four free Wednesday shows begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (July 12) on the front lawn of Purdue Memorial Union. Dinner, which will include food with a new theme each week, will begin at 5:30 p.m. The meals are $10 for adults and $6 for children age 10 and under. Seating for the concerts will be limited, so attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets. The performance dates and performers are: July 12, Trouble With Monday, an adult contemporary group. The menu theme, French with a Flair, includes chicken Provencale, herb-crusted salmon steaks, zucchini gratin, new roasted potatoes, Mediterranean pasta salad, trifle, French melon and strawberry salad. July 19, Ann McWilliams Band, a progressive pop group. With the theme of American Cook-Out, menu offerings include hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken breasts, condiment bar, house-made potato salad, house-made slaw, roasted corn salad, baked beans, fruit salad and brownies. July 26, Mississippi Heat, a blues band. The Summer Fusion menu includes chili-lime chicken kabobs, grilled lemongrass beef and noodle salad, Shangai slaw, black bean and couscous salad, hummus with pita, sweet potato pudding and minted fruit salad. Aug. 2, Baaro, a reggae band. The menu theme, Taste of the Caribbean, includes roast chicken breast with papaya glaze, Caribbean jerk pork chops, Jamaican rice and peas, lentil salad, Jamaican coleslaw, fresh apple rum cake and orange cream fruit salad. Purdue Student Union Board and Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union are also sponsoring the concert series. In case of rain, the concerts will be held inside the Purdue Memorial Union.
