Jischke to update Purdue construction progress

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University President Martin C. Jischke on Wednesday (Aug. 2) will discuss the progress of several Purdue construction projects.

From 2-3 p.m. during WBAA radio's live call-in show "AM 920 Magazine," Jischke will field questions from host Dan Skinner and the listening audience.

In September, Purdue will dedicate three new buildings and break ground on the Discovery Learning Center in Discovery Park. Jischke will discuss the importance of buildings such as Mann Hall and the Biomedical Engineering Building that are both nearing completion, as well as the Birck Nanotechnology Center that will become fully operational by year's end.

"Discovery Park is Purdue's hub for interdisciplinary research on campus and continues to be a hub of construction activity as well," Skinner said. "These facilities are changing the way Purdue conducts research, bringing together scientists and researchers from several areas of the university into collaborative settings that are highly efficient, modern and cutting-edge."

To ask questions, local listeners can call (765) 496-1999. Listeners outside the local calling area can call toll-free at (866) 922-2101. WBAA's AM signal reaches approximately two-thirds of Indiana and can be heard globally via the station's Web site.

Jischke appears on the show monthly, typically on the first Wednesday of the month, to discuss community and university issues. Past interview topics have included Purdue's academic ratings, the ongoing capital campaign and the need to improve American engineering education. Previous interviews are archived on the station's Web site.
