Purdue partners with Ohio State for Farm Science ReviewWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue University will join Ohio State University in co-sponsoring the 44th Farm Science Review on Sept. 19-21 at the Molly Caren Agricultural Center in London, Ohio."We want to show that we are university partners, and our mission to educate goes across state lines," said Danica Kirkpatrick, events/educational activities coordinator at Purdue. This is the second year for the partnership, which was developed between OSU and Purdue to give insights into all aspects of research. Purdue specialists were invited by their OSU counterparts to complement the programs that are taking place, Kirkpatrick said. The Farm Science Review will provide visitors with the latest information and research in agriculture production, management and technology. There also will be many vendors and exhibits with live field demonstrations. Exhibits that will be organized by Purdue cover the topics of nanotechnology, osteoporosis, the pest emerald ash borer and biofuels. Among the Purdue presenters are Jerry Nelson, Purdue Extension New Ventures director; Dirk Maier, professor of agricultural and biological engineering; Bill Hoover, professor of forestry and natural resources; Steve Leer, "Ag. Answers" editor; Corey Gerber, crop diagnostic director; Brian MacGowan, Purdue Extension wildlife specialist; Jim Camberato, professor of agronomy; Brad Joern, professor of agronomy; Karen Zotz, assistant dean in College of Consumer and Family Sciences; Brent Ladd, water quality specialist; and Otto Doering, professor of agricultural economics. Kirkpatrick said there are many people that travel from eastern Indiana to attend the Farm Science Review, which is the main agriculture event in Ohio. An estimated 100,000 people expected for the three-day show. The review opens at 8 a.m. daily and closes at 5 p.m. on Sept. 19 and 20 and at 4 p.m. on Sept. 21. Tickets are $8 at the gate or $5 in advance if purchased at Ohio State Extension offices. Children 5 and younger are admitted free. The Molly Caren Agricultural Center is located approximately 154 miles from the Indiana state line on Interstate 70. More information is available online.
