Imaginestics teams with Axonai to match suppliers with manufacturer's quotes

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Imaginestics LLC, a global supplier search engine company based at Purdue Research Park, announced today (Thursday, Sept. 7) that Axonai, which specializes in connecting buyers and suppliers, will use their 3D-Seek shape search engine.

"With over 200 categories, identification of the correct supplier for a given "request for quotes" (RFQ) can be often challenging," said Nainesh Rathod, president and CEO of Imaginestics. "Most RFQ portals, or companies that help the manufacturing industry identify suppliers, match the RFQs based on the buyers and sellers respective product categorization. However, in almost 50 to 60 percent of the cases, the buyer has selected a category that is different from the suppliers, therefore, compromising the supplier's ability to bid for an RFQ."

In order to alleviate this problem, Rathod said many RFQ portals have employed a manual process of researching and matching of buyer's RFQs to supplier's capabilities, which takes a lot of time and, therefore, is not cost effective. Using 3D-Seek technology, which allows searching with graphics, Axonai will enable their suppliers to identify or recognize similar parts that have been created with different processes upon submittal of the drawing with the RFQ, he said.

"This new technology is very promising since it will allow us to find experienced suppliers and customize the existing parts to our designs," said Chris Wightman, an engineer at Honeybee Robotics. "This will help reduce cost and development time."

In addition, 3D-Seek technology will automatically match the shape provided in the drawing with the capabilities of suppliers, reducing the overall procuring cost, Rathod said. This will eliminate the margin of error that is inherent in manual identification processes and streamline distribution to the appropriate manufacturers. Search users will be able to accurately locate and match the buyers' requirements with suppliers' capabilities, he said.

"It takes it beyond just presenting a quote to a buyer. It allows us to be more involved in the design and evaluation process, adding value through our experience, not just competing on price," said Norbert Kozer, sales manager of Precision Swiss Products Inc.

Rathod said Imaginestics is looking forward to applying 3D-Seek to the sourcing industry.

"We expect that this partnership with Axonai will immensely benefit 3D-Seek's growing custom-supplier network," he said.

Brandon Ezra, chairman of Axonai, said the technology will enable Axonai to offer customers the most technologically advanced sourcing network in the expanding global market.

"Axonai's use of Imaginestics's shape-search technology will enable Axonai to further differentiate itself as a leading and innovative company," Ezra said.
