Mississippi State University president to speak at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The president of Mississippi State University will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 3) at a leadership forum sponsored by the Purdue Association of Leaders.

Robert Foglesong will talk about leadership and how it relates to college students. The forum will be in Wetherill Laboratory of Chemistry, Room 172, and is free and open to Purdue students, staff and faculty.

"Dr. Foglesong's visit provides a great opportunity for students to interact and learn from a legendary leader," said Nick Keller, a senior in the College of Technology from Charleston, W.Va., and president of the Purdue Association of Leaders.

In addition to being president of Mississippi State, Foglesong also is president and executive director of the Appalachian Leadership Education Foundation. He is a director of Massey Energy, a major coal producer, and a director of the Michael Baker Corp., an international energy and consulting firm. Foglesong previously was a four-star general in the U.S. Air Force responsible for more than 500,000 personnel and planning and programming a budget of $90 billion.

The Purdue Association of Leaders is a student organization with approximately 200 members. Its primary mission is to develop the leadership abilities of its members through social, professional and academic means.
