Purdue student 'rush' tickets available for musical 'Aida'

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue students will be able to purchase discounted "rush" tickets for the performance of Elton John and Tim Rice's "Aida" on Oct. 13.

The musical will be presented at 8 p.m. in Elliott Hall of Music.

"Rush" tickets will be $20 for Purdue students only for all Zone B seats on the main floor and front of the first balcony of Elliott Hall. This reflects an $8 discount from the regular student ticket price. Students will be required to present a current Purdue ID when purchasing tickets. There is a limit of six "rush" tickets per ID.

Todd Wetzel, director of Purdue Convocations, said he hopes the discounted ticket will encourage students who have not attended a musical in the past to try out a new experience with "Aida."

"I saw 'Aida' on Broadway several years ago and was captivated by the bold and highly stylized sets and costumes and the contemporary music. I think college students in particular will love this unconventional and, at times, magical approach to a traditional opera tragedy."

Purdue student "rush" tickets can be purchased at the Elliott Hall and Stewart Center box offices or at (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW. "Rush" tickets are not available through Ticketmaster. There are no refunds or exchanges on previous purchases.

More information about the Tony award-winning musical is available online.
