Faculty and staff honors
—E. Dan Hirleman, professor and the William E. and Florence E. Perry Head of Mechanical Engineering, presented four faculty members and 11 graduate teaching assistants with awards at the seventh annual School of Mechanical Engineering Awards Convocation held Sept. 24. Recipients and awards were: Arvind Raman, associate professor, Young Researcher Award; George T. Chiu, associate professor, Team Award: HP Digital Printing Systems Team; Anil Bajaj, professor, Outstanding Graduate Faculty Mentor; and John M. Starkey, associate professor, Solberg Award for Best Teacher. The following graduate teaching assistants received the Magoon Award in recognition of outstanding teaching performance: Rahul Bidkar, Yun Hong, Rajneesh Kumar, John Layer, John McHale, Sean Peterson, Stephane Poussou, Philip Stevenson, Bo Xie, Cheng Zhang and Junghua Zhong.
