Halloween events to be offered at Purdue Memorial Union

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Student Union Board will offer two events on Oct. 28 in celebration of Halloween.

In the evening, "Escape from Union Prison," a dual haunted house, will be set up for visitors, and later that night, the Purdue Student Union Board will offer its annual showing of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

After the Purdue football game against Penn State University, from 7-11 p.m. visitors can go to the union for a night of both authentic and virtual terror. The free tour starts on the union ground floor in Union Station across from Union Market, where the Purdue Student Union Board will prepare a frighteningly classic haunted house, said Margie Stoltz, PSUB adviser.

"Afterward, the tour continues to the Envision Center, where the classic haunted house takes a virtual twist and you are forced to face your fears and ask if you can truly believe your eyes," Stoltz said.

The Envision Center is located off the walkway that connects Purdue Memorial Union with Stewart Center.

Later that night, the Purdue Student Union Board will screen "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" in Purdue Memorial Union's South Ballroom. Ticket sales will begin at 9:30 p.m. and are $5 for Purdue students with a Purdue ID and $8 for the general public. "Survival kits," which hold items that can be used by the audience to interact with the show, are available in a limited supply for $5.

Doors will open at 10 p.m. and a costume contest, including games and prizes, will be held at 10:30 p.m.

The film will start at midnight, with actors on stage acting out the scenes while the movie plays.
