Jischke to review impact of Purdue's research foundation, park

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University President Martin C. Jischke on Wednesday (Nov. 1) will discuss the impact that the Purdue Research Foundation and Research Park have had on the local community and the state.

From 2-3 p.m. during WBAA radio's live call-in show "AM 920 Magazine," Jischke will field questions from host David Bunte and the listening audience.

The nonprofit foundation was founded in 1930 as a liaison between the university and industry. It manages $880 million in assets and helps the university provide scholarships, assists with economic development initiatives, helps transfer technology from academia to industry and acquires real estate to help the university expand.

The 591-acre research park is owned and managed by the foundation. Home to more than 140 companies providing nearly 2,900 jobs, it is the largest university-affiliated business incubation complex in the country.

"The Purdue Research Foundation plays an important role in helping Purdue become a world-class university by funding research and managing Purdue's intellectual property," Bunte said. "The research park's award-winning technology transfer and business acceleration programs are attracting knowledge-based businesses to Indiana, launching new startups powered by Purdue-generated innovation and increasing the number of high-tech collaborations with the university."

To ask questions, local listeners can call (765) 496-1999. Listeners outside the local calling area can call toll-free at (866) 922-2101. WBAA's AM signal reaches approximately two-thirds of Indiana and can be heard globally via the station's Web site.

Jischke appears on the show monthly, typically on the first Wednesday of the month, to discuss community and university issues. Past interview topics have included Purdue's strategic plan, sports fan behavior and new construction at the university. Previous interviews are archived on the station's Web site.
