WorkLife Programs to offer flu clinic Nov. 9WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Due to the receipt of additional flu vaccines, Purdue University's WorkLife Programs has scheduled a flu shot clinic on Thursday (Nov. 9).The clinic will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Purdue Technology Center, 3000 Kent Ave. It will be open to Purdue retirees, their spouses or same-sex domestic partners, and current employees who are classified as being at high risk for flu complications. Parking is available at the front of the building. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the following groups receive flu vaccinations every year due to being in the high-risk category: children 6 months to 5 years old; pregnant women; those age 50 and older; people of any age with certain chronic medical conditions; people who live in nursing homes or other long-term care facilities; and people, such as health-care workers, who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from flu. At this time, a second flu clinic date has been tentatively scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 21 in Stewart Center, Room 218, said Julie Huetteman, wellness specialist with WorkLife Programs. A start date for walk-in flu shots at the Purdue Student Health Center has not been determined, but is tentatively scheduled after the Nov. 21 clinic, based on the receipt of more vaccine, she said.
