Beth Basar, of Round Rock, Texas, learns how to work with large animals at a practicum for Purdue University's Veterinary Technology Distance Learning program in the School of Veterinary Medicine. Basar, who graduates in August, is the first veterinary technician to complete the program, which combines online classes with campus workshops. Graduates will be trained to perform many medical nursing procedures and technical laboratory tasks with companion, food and laboratory animals.
