An 18-foot bronze statue of a historically accurate boilermaker will be erected Monday (Sept. 26) between the Intercollegiate Athletics facility and the Mollenkopf Athletics Center at Purdue University. Sculptor Jon Hair of Cornelius, N.C., began work on the statue in 2003 on behalf of an anonymous donor who wanted to present Purdue with a statue of the world's largest boilermaker. "The Boilermaker" will be dedicated Nov. 4 to celebrate the completion of the phase one renovation of Ross-Ade Stadium.
