U.S. News and World Report Purdue's Krannert School of Management had two programs ranked in the top 10. Productions/operations was ranked sixth and supply chain/logistics was ranked 10th. Graduate program rankings reflect both masters and doctoral programs or only doctoral programs. U.S. News and World Report ranks only a small sub-set of all of the Purdue programs. In August 2009, Purdue's College of Engineering undergraduate program ranked ninth nationally among doctoral-granting public universities. In 2007, 11 Purdue doctoral programs placed in the top 10 of Academic Analytics 2007 Top Research Universities Faculty Scholar Productivity Index. The third annual index compiled overall institutional rankings on doctoral degree programs at 375 universities. The rankings are based on measures of faculty productivity. Purdue's rankings:
American Society for Engineering Education Purdue awarded 60 bachelor's degrees in engineering technology to women during the 2002-03 academic year, the highest in the country. Purdue's College of Technology also tied for first in the total number of degrees awarded - 364. Aviation Week & Space Technology In September 2008, Purdue was ranked as the top choice of recruiters from the aerospace and defense industries in a study by Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine. In its 2008 Workforce Study, the magazine asked companies in those industries to list the top five institutions from which they recruit. Of the 64 schools mentioned, Purdue was No. 1, up from No. 4 in the 2007 rankings. Purdue also was among the top three graduate schools in the survey. Business 2.0In fall 2001, Purdue was listed among the top 20 tech-savviest MBA programs. Business WeekIn 2006, Purdue's Krannert School of Management ranked No. 24 nationally and eighth among public universities in Business Week magazine's rankings of full-time MBA programs. The school also was ranked in the top 20 by recruiters and 17th for faculty intellectual capital. Krannert students surveyed by Business Week lauded the school's quality of faculty, small class sizes, career opportunities and educational value for the money. In fall 2005, Purdue's degree programs ranked 18th worldwide. In March 2009, Indiana was ranked as the best state to do business in the Midwest in a survey by Chief Executive magazine. In the survey of the nation's CEOs, Indiana was ranked third in the nation in business friendliness, fourth in transportation and sixth in cost of business. Communications of the ACMThe first ACM Rankings (Communications of the ACM), June 2007/Vol. 50, No. 6 research productivity: Computer Science - Purdue ranked 9th. Systems and software engineering - Purdue ranked 17th. Com VistaIn August 2008, Com Vista, a guide to programs of study in communication-related departments, ranked Purdue's Department of Communication No. 2 in health communication and No. 4 in interpersonal and organizational communication. The rankings are based on faculty's publications in the 50 journals related to the field. Purdue's communication department also placed in the top 10 for specific areas of study, including No. 1 (tie) in the area of narrative and No. 2 in the area of communication and emotion. DesignIntelligence In January 2008, DesignIntelligence: The Almanac of Architecture and Design ranked Purdue's Patti and Rusty Rueff Department of Visual and Performing Arts interior design program 14th. Purdue tied with five other interior design programs. Purdue ranked fourth in the Midwest region. Also receiving regional recognition in the 2008 survey was Purdue's industrial design undergraduate program, which ranked ninth, and the graduate program, which was sixth in the Midwest region. In January 2008, DesignIntelligence: America's Best Architecture & Design Schools ranked Purdue's Landscape Architecture undergraduate program No. 5 in the nation and No. 2 in the Midwest Region, published in their 2008 Education Survey and Rankings. In July 2009, Purdue University's Krannert School of Management was ranked No. 13 among U.S. business schools with a major international influence by Eduniversal. Krannert also was granted a "five palms" rating by Eduniversal, the highest rating offered by the European-based online higher education selection tool.
Financial TimesAccording to a January 2009 survey in Financial Times, the Krannert School of Management's MBA program placed second in Best in Industry. In fall 2008, Purdue's International Master's in Management program ranked 15th in degree programs worldwide and No. 1 in international course management. Hispanic BusinessIn 2008, Hispanic Business magazine ranked Purdue's College of Engineering among the best institutions in the nation for Latino graduate students studying engineering. The college's graduate program was placed No. 2 in the Top 10 list of Best Schools for Hispanics in the field of engineering. Purdue was cited for the number of Latino faculty, and the admission and retention rate for Hispanic students in the engineering graduate programs. Hispanic student organizations such as SHPE, SACNAS, the Latino Student Council, the Latino Graduate Student Organization and the Latino Student Union also were praised. Insititute of International Education In November 2007, the Institute of International Education ranked Purdue second in the nation among U.S. public institutions in international student enrollment for the 2006-07 academic year. "Open Doors" is published by the Institute of International Education with support from the Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The survey includes almost 3,000 accredited U.S. institutions and has been conducted every year since 1949. Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Education Also, the hospitality & tourism program was ranked No. 1 in the U.S. by the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Education in a study based on survey results from industry recruiters. It also has not yet been replicated. Journal of Marital & Family Therapy In April 2009, Purdue's Marriage and Family Therapy program in the College of Consumer and Family Sciences was ranked No. 1 in scholarship productivity by the Journal of Marital & Family Therapy. National Science Foundation In 2004, a national survey by Oregon State University ranked Purdue's agricultural economics program No. 1 in international trade, farm management, production and finance; and No. 2 in agribusiness, marketing and sales, and industrial organization. In January 2009, Purdue was ranked in the Princeton Review's list of 100 "best value" colleges for 2009. The education services and test-prep company says the rankings are an attempt to highlight "schools that provide high-quality academics at a reasonable price - either by keeping sticker prices in line, or by offsetting high costs with great financial packages." Review of Economics and Statistics In spring 2008, Purdue's doctoral program in economics was ranked 25th in economics among U.S. schools. Shanghai World Rankings of Broad Fields In August 2008 the Shanghai World Rankings of Broad Fields ranked Purdue 65th overall in the world. Small Times magazine In January 2009, Purdue was ranked ninth nationally in SmartMoney magazine's college "payback" survey, which quantifies the long-term value of a college education. SmartMoney is produced by the Wall Street Journal. Times Higher Education Supplement In 2008 The Times Higher-QS World University Rankings rated Purdue 99th overall. Wall Street Journal In September 2008 the Executive MBA program at Purdue University's Krannert School of Management was ranked among the top 25 in the world by the Wall Street Journal. Krannert's program ranked No. 22 overall and was No. 8 among U.S. public institutions. Purdue was the only Indiana college included in the top 25. Krannert's Executive MBA was ranked No. 16 overall by corporations and No. 24 by students. The program also scored in the top one-third of all schools in the categories of classmate quality and immediately applicable coursework. Webometrics Ranking of World Universities In January 2009, Purdue was ranked 21st in Webometrics' Ranking of World Universities survey. The ranking is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Clentificas, a public research institution in Spain. The ranking measures the activity and visibility of the institutions, according to the group. Whitefield Consulting Worldwide Rankings In fall 2007, Purdue's International Master's in Management (IMM) program was ranked eighth in the world by Whitefield Consulting Worldwide. Whitefield is a management consulting group specializing in management education, careers and recruitment. Purdue's IMM program is a partnership between the Krannert School, the GISMA Business School in Germany, TiasNimbas Business School in the Netherlands, and CEU Business School in Budapest. 4 International Colleges & Universities In January 2009, 4 International Colleges & Universities, an international higher education search engine and directory reviewing worldwide accredited universities and colleges, ranked Purdue sixth in its list of the top 200 institutions in its 4icu.org Web Popularity Ranking. The aim of the Web site is to provide an approximate popularity ranking of worldwide universities and colleges based upon the popularity of the institutions' Web sites.
