	  <description><![CDATA[Alphonso V. Diaz has been named Purdue University's executive vice president for business and finance,&nbsp;treasurer, effective July 1. As the university's chief financial officer, Diaz will report to Purdue President France A. C&oacute;rdova and the board of trustees. 
<p>"Al Diaz is an experienced administrator. He is skillful at getting people to work together toward common goals," C&oacute;rdova said. "His deep experience in leading complex organizations, in which he has interacted with a diversity of stakeholders including elected officials and community members, is exactly what Purdue needs as we move forward to meet our strategic goals. Among these are to expand human resources, rehabilitate aging facilities, plan new buildings for increased student and research success, and find new opportunities to generate revenue in a tough economic climate."</p>]]></description>

	  <description><![CDATA[In an effort to better prepare students for the changing needs of businesses and to develop the next generation of business leaders, the Krannert School of Management is revising the curriculum for its two-year MBA and one-year MSIA programs.
<p class="FORMAT-BODY">"Business organizations today are more global, more technology dependent and less hierarchical," said Manohar Kalwani, head of Krannert's Department of Management who led the process to change the curriculum. "As organizations have become flatter, business leaders are expected to foresee opportunities and address problems that cut across functional boundaries. MBAs today rarely start their careers in a given area and finish their careers in the same area."</p>]]></description>

	  <description><![CDATA[Purdue University's Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship this spring semester will offer free consultations to students, faculty and staff interested in starting a business. 
<p class="FORMAT-BODY">The Entrepreneurship Assistance Clinic, located in Room 231 of the Burton Morgan Center in Purdue's Discovery Park, opened during the week of Jan. 12 as a resource for aspiring entrepreneurs and small-business owners. Hours during the semester are Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. The clinic will be closed during the Spring Break week of March 16-20.</p>]]></description>

The WSJ article also noted that for public universities, low tuition and a cost-efficient approach often bring more value than brand names.</p>]]></description>

<p class="FORMAT-BODY">The Krannert School of Management's Management Ambassadors club will host its seventh annual "Trick-or-Can" event Oct. 31 in the University Farms neighborhood in West Lafayette. Ambassadors will drop off bags at homes in University Farms during the week of Oct. 13 that homeowners can use to package their donations of canned goods and non-perishable food items. The students will canvas the neighborhood in teams on Halloween to pick up the donated items, which will be distributed to Lafayette Urban Ministry. </p>]]></description>
