September 13, 2007 Purdue conference to examine manufacturing competitivenessWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Students, faculty and industry professionals will meet Oct. 5 at Purdue University to discuss manufacturing competitiveness as part of the 2007 Fall Operations Conference.Krannert's Dauch Center for the Management of Manufacturing Enterprises and the Global Supply Chain Management Initiative is sponsoring the daylong operations conference from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Rawls Hall. Ananth Iyer, center director and the Susan Bulkeley Butler Chair in Operations Management, will lead the conference, which is one of two major events sponsored by the centers. The theme will be Engaging Suppliers to Ensure Manufacturing Competitiveness, and the conference will feature speakers from Saint-Gobain Container in Muncie, Ind., and India's TVS Motor Co. In addition, the conference will feature the Student Internship Experience Poster Competition, which is open to MBA and undergraduate management students. Students prepare posters describing their summer internship experiences and present them to attending industry executives. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three presentations. The conference is open to the public, however preregistration is required.
