April 18, 2008 Purdue Libraries extend hours for students preparing for finalsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University Libraries will extend hours at four locations to help students prepare for their final exams.The John W. Hicks Undergraduate and the Siegesmund Engineering libraries will be open 24 hours a day during finals week and the week leading up to it. The two libraries will open at 11 a.m. April 20 and will not close until 5 p.m. May 3. Coffee and snacks will be served overnight in the libraries. The Humanities, Social Science and Education Library, along with the Management and Economics Library, will be open around the clock, starting at 11 a.m. April 27 and ending at 5 p.m. May 3. "We extended library hours last semester and received great feedback from students," said Marianne Ryan, associate dean for learning at Purdue Libraries. "Providing access to study space and information resources is a key service that libraries can provide to help students prepare for finals." Dead week, when students start gearing up for finals, is Sunday (April 20) through April 27.
