May 5, 2008 Three alumni honored by Purdue School of NursingWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue University School of Nursing honored three individuals with 2008 Nursing Alumni Awards at the 10th annual Helen R. Johnson Leadership Conference on April 11.The award winners included: * Jane Ann Dixon Keyes, of West Lafayette, Ind., earned her bachelor's degree in 1982. Keyes has served as the nursing liaison to the planning and construction teams of two surgery centers, the Spring Mill Surgery Center in Indianapolis and the Arnett Surgery Center in Lafayette, Ind. Keyes is responsible for the management of daily operations at the Arnett Surgery Center, including budget, quality assurance and personnel. She currently holds two nursing management positions, as clinical director of Arnett Surgery Center and director of surgical services for the Clarian Arnett Hospital under construction in Lafayette. Keyes, who earned a master's of business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University 1997, is an active member of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses. * Katherine Palma Marciniec, who completed her bachelor's degree in 2003, was honored with the Outstanding Young Alumni Award. Marciniec, of Indianapolis, is a registered nurse in the Methodist Emergency Medicine and Trauma Center. She serves as charge nurse in her department. Marciniec is certified as a sexual assault nurse examiner and has assisted in the prosecution of sexual predators. She is a Certified Emergency Nurse and an active member in the Emergency Nurses Association. She also is pursuing further training in advanced trauma nursing. * Sharon Stoten, who earned her associate's degree in 1970 and her bachelor's degree in 1972, was awarded the 2008 Technology in Nursing Education Award. Stoten, of Indianapolis, is a nursing educator recognized for her expertise in developing and designing Web-based pedagogies and implementing them in online courses. She is currently a clinical assistant professor at the Indiana University School of Nursing. Her research focuses on podcasting and the use of the iPod in teaching online courses.
