Life Plus announces new alliance that will create expanded services

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Life Plus LLC, a Purdue Research Park-based company, has announced the formation of an alliance that will enhance the firm's international capabilities in toxicology testing.

Life Plus has formed an alliance with an Indian laboratory that brings a unique set of capabilities to clients involved in commercializing new chemical technologies in Europe and those eight countries with chemical control laws: United States, Canada, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines.

Through the new alliance, Life Plus will gain access to lower cost mammalian toxicology testing in a lab that conducts testing in accordance with international standards in support of new substance notifications for industrial chemicals.

"The lab facility we are using is one of the first in the developing world to obtain toxicology testing that meets the national standards set by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Chemical - Good Laboratory Practice, or OECD-GLP," said Mark Cisneros, founder and CEO of Life Plus. "Our clients now have an option of lowering their costs for high-quality, mammalian toxicology testing conducted in an OECD-GLP compliant laboratory."

Life Plus specializes in services providing:

* Testing oversight.

* Compiling packages of information to support new substance notifications, including expert statements, test reports for chemical-physical properties, environmental fate and effects, and mammalian toxicology.

The total cost of a typical new substance notification package is in the range of $400,000 to $500,000 per new chemical substance and can require 18-24 months. Since about one-half the cost can be associated with mammalian toxicology studies and this new alliance can generate cost savings up to 35 percent and time-savings up to 20 percent, clients can expect to save up to $80,000 plus reduce their time to commercialization of their new chemical technology by three to five months.

"This alliance allows us to increase our cost-effectiveness through significantly discounted toxicology testing costs and help improve our clients' productivity," Cisneros said. "We now have the ability to offer our clients 'one-stop shopping' to help them meet their international testing and listing needs."

Life Plus will continue to build its infrastructure and can now provide its clients a wider range of international testing and listing services.

"Part of Life Plus's unique advantage is its affiliation with several Chinese toxicology labs, which improves the speed of conducting mandatory tests in Chinese labs and reduces the overall testing costs," Cisneros said.
