August 20, 2008 New Purdue Research Park company helps with global telecom needsINDIANAPOLIS and WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
FlamencoNets, which is based in Indianapolis, was founded by Raul Flamenco, who serves as the company's president. The company provides services that will help new or established companies build and monitor their global data network. "When a small company starts to expand globally, the company leaders can be overwhelmed with the details involved in building presence abroad and connecting with clients they need to stay in business," Flamenco said. "Although they spend a lot of money on telecommunications, they don't command the attention of tier-one carriers to customize solutions for them. It's my job to customize it for them." Companies need to go through multiple steps to set up wire-line data networks, including provisioning and enabling their networks, Flamenco said. His company can develop a networking system to meet the specific needs of each company and then can manage the system for the company. "An explosion of competition in the data communications industry has given companies multiple carriers from which to choose," Flamenco said. "We rely on tier-one carriers' infrastructure for our services and the best combination for each business. Then we manage the relationship to make sure the company maintains communication no matter where they are. "We provide one point of contact for our customers and that saves them time and money." FlamencoNets recently received a Minority Business Enterprise certification from Indiana Minority Supplier Diversity Council. The certification identifies FlamencoNets as a firm that meets the definition of a Minority Business Enterprise as established by the National Minority Supplier Development Council. Doing business with a Minority Business Enterprise certified company helps corporate suppliers meet diversity program goals and qualify for new business opportunities in government or regulated industries. With several years of experience working with Sprint in Michigan and California on the sales side of technical data communication, Flamenco said he decided to combine his interest in technology with his love of travel. Originally from El Salvador, he received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California and an MBA from IESE Business School at the University of Navarra in Barcelona. He began his startup company in 2005 in Carmel, Ind., and now has one other partner in Moscow. Companies doing business in China, Russia, Brazil and Spain are likely clients for FlamencoNets, he said. He said working with the Purdue Research Park has given him a solid base. "It's been a good relationship, and I hope it will continue to strengthen our position globally as well as locally."
