Appointments, honors and activities

• Alumni honors:

— The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering has named its 2009 Outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineers. The honorees are:

* David J. Dries, Woodbury, Minn., assistant medical director for surgical care at Health Partners Medical Group and professor of surgery and anesthesiology, and the John F. Perry Jr. Chair of Trauma Surgery at the University of Minnesota. He has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue.

* John D. McDonald, Duluth, Ga., general manager, marketing, for GE Energy Transmission & Distribution. He has bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Purdue.

* Keerti Melkote, San Jose, Calif., founder and chief technology officer for Aruba Networks. He has a master's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue.

* Jonathan A. Murray, Dousman, Wis., general manager, cross business programs, for GE Healthcare. He has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue.

* Karenann Terrell, Glenview, Ill., corporate vice president and chief information officer for Baxter International. She has a master's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue.
